In one paragraph
Your photos and videos never leave your iPhone. Untouched has no server and no account; it copies the originals you choose into its own folder on your device. To know whether the app works, it sends anonymous usage statistics that describe what the app did (for example, “a copy succeeded, 3.2 MB”), never what you have: no images, file names, album names or locations. It doesn’t track you, show ads, or sell or share data.
What never leaves your iPhone
- Your photos, videos and Live Photos, and any thumbnails or previews of them
- File names, album names, and identifiers from your photo library
- Location, capture time and other metadata inside your files
- Your Apple Account, email address, phone number or contacts
Untouched doesn’t use the advertising identifier, doesn’t track you across apps or websites, and doesn’t sell or share information with advertisers or data brokers.
What Untouched sends
Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports, so we can see when something fails and fix it. They are processed by PostHog on servers in the European Union.
| Category | What’s included |
|---|---|
| What happened | App launches; the photo access result; how many items you picked; whether each copy succeeded or failed and the category of failure (for example, not enough space); which technical route a copy took; integrity check results as counts. |
| Sizes and timings | Number of items, file sizes, how long a copy took, transfer speed, the longest edge in pixels, free space on the device and space used by Untouched. |
| Device and app | Device model (such as “iPhone15,4”), iOS version, app version, language, time zone, whether you’re on Wi-Fi or cellular, screen size, and a random identifier created when the app is installed. |
| Approximate location | Country and city, estimated from your IP address when the data arrives. The IP address itself is discarded and not stored. |
| Purchases | Where the upgrade screen was opened from, which option you chose, and whether the purchase completed, including its price, currency and App Store country. Payments are handled entirely by Apple; Untouched never sees your payment details. |
| Crashes | Technical crash reports. |
This data isn’t linked to your identity and isn’t enough to identify a person. We use it only to find problems and improve Untouched.
Photo library access
Untouched asks for full access to your photo library for a technical reason: the photo picker only tells an app which library item you chose when the app has full access, and that is the only way to read the item’s original files. Access is used only to read. Untouched never modifies, moves or deletes anything in your photo library and never uploads it anywhere.
Your files
Kept items live in Untouched’s own folder, Files › On My iPhone › Untouched, as ordinary folders you can copy anywhere without the app. Deleting the app deletes that folder, so copy your files out first. By default the folder is excluded from device backups (you can change this in the app’s Settings), because the originals usually already exist in your photo library in iCloud.
Diagnostics log
Untouched keeps a log of each step it takes, on your iPhone only, to help diagnose failed copies. The log includes file names. It leaves your device only if you choose to share it with us from Settings › Diagnostics.
Your rights
You can ask us about, or ask us to delete, data concerning you, including under the GDPR and CCPA. Because the usage statistics aren’t linked to your identity, we usually can’t find records that belong to a particular person, but write to us and we’ll help as far as we can. We reply within 30 days.
Children
Untouched isn’t directed to children under 13 and doesn’t knowingly collect information from them.
